Another fast-casual pizzeria concept is entering the Phoenix metro this year: LA-based Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza.
The chain — backed by basketball star Lebron James, former talk show host and California first lady Maria Shriver, Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner and movie producer John Davis — announced plans to open four locations throughout Phoenix in the next several years, including locations within Arizona State University.
Blaze’s first location will be near the Arizona State University campus at 105 W. University Drive in a 3,330 square foot space with seating for about 130 people.
In the fourth quarter, Blaze will continue its expansion with an opening at the University of Arizona in Tucson at 5601 E. Broadway Boulevard, an opening in Phoenix at 5120 N. Central Avenue — near the Upward Projects’ group of restaurants, including Federal Pizza — and an opening in Avondale at West McDowell Road & 103rd Avenue.
Blaze also plans to open a Glendale location in the beginning of 2017 at 7870 W. Bell Road.
The pizzeria, which first opened in 2012 in Irvine, California, offers made-to-order pizzas in the same style as Pizza Studio, located at Cityscape in downtown Phoenix.
The Arizona locations will be operated by local franchisee BZ Pizza LLC.
