The Grind In Arcadia Closes

The Grind, Arcadia’s popular bar and burger joint, has ground to a halt.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce we have closed The Grind,” the Phoenix restaurant announced on its Facebook page on Friday, July 1.

Partners Allen Thompson, George Monzures and chef Matt McLinn opened the eatery at Camelback Road and 40th Street in 2010. The Grind received recognition, both locally and nationally, for its coal-fired burgers.

McLinn parted ways with Thompson and Monzures in 2011, and a second location of The Grind in Scottsdale opened in 2012 and closed a little more than a year later.

The original location in Arcadia was the only one remaining. Its abrupt shuttering follows a rash of notable closures in Old Town Scottsdale (Smokehaus, Pink Pony and most recently, The Upton) and in Arcadia (The Yacht Club, Hazelwoods).
