California-based restaurant Ahipoki Bowl is opening its second Phoenix-area location next month in the East Valley.
The restaurant, which focuses on poke — a Hawaiian dish that serves sushi over rice — will open July 15 in Chandler at Chandler Pavilions Shopping Center at 820 N. 54 th Street.
The first location opened April 1 at 2805 N. Scottsdale Road in south Scottsdale, its second-ever location outside of its flagship store in California.
The first Arizona location sold more than 1,300 bowls on opening day, according to a press release.
The Arizona locations are under the joint venture of Michael Zimmerman andJason Jantzen. Zimmerman owns construction company Republic West Home and Jantzen owns marketing firm Phoenix Marketing Associates.
There are plans to open six to seven more Valley locations, and as many as 15 statewide.
“Since the day we opened, we’ve been bombarded with requests for a second location ranging from North Scottsdale, to CenPho to Tempe and the West Valley. We finally agreed that Chandler would give us the best opportunity to duplicate the success we’ve experienced in Scottsdale,” said Jantzen in a statement. “We do have other lease offers in the works and will release those locations as soon as possible.”
