Two New Restaurants Opening In The Valley: The Chicken Scoop & Mad Greens

The Chicken Scoop

A new restaurant group is opening a new concept in the Valley that focuses on an oft-overlooked dish.

Phoenix-based 30A Restaurant Concepts, comprised of principals Jana Larae Boles, Jason D. Mccurdy and Timothy Dallan Ruch, and established in August 2015, is opening up The Chicken Scoop, a chicken salad-themed restaurant.

The concept is set to open in July at the Scottsdale Promenade.

Excel Trust, property owners of the Promenade, have recently proposed redevelopment plans.

The Chicken Scoop will offer 14 flavors of chicken salad for dine-in or grab-and-go, and are sold by the scoop — the concept’s namesake.

The restaurant will also offer sandwiches, salads, soups and desserts.

“We’ve taken one of the most All-American comfort foods and put our own spin on it, fourteen times over,” Dana McCurdy, owner of The Chicken Scoop, said in a statement. “Whether you dine at our place, take it home to enjoy with your family or grab-and-go for picnics, tailgating or catering events – there’s a flavor for everyone.”

Mad Greens opening third Scottsdale location

Colorado-based Mad Greens is continuing its expansion in the Valley with a sixth location.

The new location for the health-focused fast-casual concept will open June 16 at the Scottsdale Horizon Center at 14850 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd.

It will be the third Scottsdale location for Mad Greens.

Arizona was the first out-of-state expansion for Mad Greens, which opened its first Arizona restaurant at Tempe Marketplace. It has since added locations in Texas. All told, it operates 21 restaurants in Arizona, Texas and Colorado.

The new Scottsdale location is partnering with Boys & Girls Club Piper Branch during the grand opening.

Mad Greens is leading the way in fast-casual health concepts opening in the Valley alongside Scottsdale’s Grabbagreen, which has inked a number of franchise deals in other states.

Phoenix-based Fox Restaurant Concepts also has made a play into the healthy fast-casual trend with its Flower Child concept, which has two Phoenix-area locations.
