Since 2000, Joe’s Real BBQ has been gracing the East Valley with the best annual gift any restaurant can offer: free barbecue. And 2016 is no exception.
This Wednesday, May 4 is Customer Appreciation Day — otherwise known as Free Barbecue Day — at Joe’s Real BBQ, located at 301 North Gilbert Road in downtown Gilbert. The restaurant plans to give out 5,000 free meals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and again from 4 to 7:30 p.m. or until they run out.
The free meals include a diner’s choice of a pulled pork or a chicken breast sandwich, plus a drink, and sides such as homemade coleslaw and BBQ Pit Beans. Kid-size sandwiches are also available for rest of the family.
A few rules apply: You may only get one free meal, you must be present to receive the meal, you may not order it to go, and menu items other than the ones mentioned do not apply.
Joe’s Real BBQ will also be holding a food drive during its Customer Appreciation Day on behalf of the Open Arms Care Center. Attendees are asked to consider bringing some canned food or boxes of cereal to aid the all-volunteer nonprofit center, with a focus on feeding and clothing to the homeless and less fortunate.
Since its start, Free Barbecue Day has given out 73,000 free meals, and after May 4, the restaurant hopes to make it 78,000. For more information, visit the Joe’s Real BBQ website or call 602-330-3093.
