Upward Projects, the Phoenix-based group behind Postino and other notable eateries such as Windsor and Joyride Tacos, had been eyeing the building for some time.
“In North Scottsdale there’s not much adaptive reuse, because it’s a newly developed area,” Lauren Bailey said. “We turned over every rock trying to find something, but we had so many customers that lived up here that we decided Kierland would be a good fit.”
Shortly after making plans to open in Kierland, Upward found the Valley National Bank building was available.
The Valley National Bank was originally constructed by Drover, Welch, and Lindlan architect Frank Henry in the 1960s.
The 5,900-square-foot Postino will have an 18-seat bar and an 80-seat dining room, and in the same vein as its other concepts, part of Postino Highland will feature unique wall decor — vintage matchbooks.
