Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill is expanding in Arizona with the first Gilbert branch opening Tuesday, May 3, at SanTan Village.
This is the chain’s third Valley location, joining others at Tempe Marketplace and Scottsdale Fashion Square. A grand opening will be held that morning, headlined by Mayor John Lewis and the ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m. The restaurant opens at 11.
The restaurant’s style leans toward a European pub atmosphere, but the menu runs the gamut from spicy tuna rolls and nachos to pizza and fish and chips. With more than a dozen appetizers, small plates are the largest part of Thirsty Lion’s menu.
The drink menu features 28 offerings on draft and about 20 wines by the glass.
“We feel that Thirsty Lion is moving into this exciting neighborhood at just the right time,” company CEO John Plew said in a written statement.
With nearly 7,000 square feet of interior space, Gilbert’s branch has a large dining area with a 32-seat bar. The 1,500-square-foot patio boasts two fire pits and group seating.
Thirsty Lion is in Arizona, Colorado and Oregon, where the company is based. New locations are scheduled to open in Denver this year and in Dallas in 2017.
Details: 2218 E. Williams Field Road, Gilbert. 480-899-0119.
